Apply for funding to help communities address food literacy: Community Food Access and Literacy Fund

Communities and community organizations can apply for funding from the Food Access and Literacy Fund to help support activities that promote food literacy and improve access to healthy, affordable food. You can apply until 25 March 2026.

The Food Access and Literacy Fund helps vulnerable Nova Scotians access local, healthy food and food literacy skills by supporting projects that:

  • improve food access for vulnerable Nova Scotians
  • teach meal planning skills, including ways to reduce trips to the grocery store
  • provide education on food, nutrition and budgeting skills
  • build and maintain community gardens to strengthen individual, family and community food security

You need to use the funding to:

  • buy food for workshops or cooking lessons
  • buy supplies (like soil and seeds for a community garden)
  • share food grown in a community garden
